Hello,
The following message was sent to the office by a member of the congregation. It is a wonderful example and asks the question; How well do you know and trust the Father?
I get a picture in my head of a little child who has been taken in the Big Swimming Pool for the first time, to learn to swim. The water is way too deep no matter what he try’s to do, Dads still taking him into the water. He really wants to swim but would rather have his feet on the ground and be in the little pool where he can splash around pretending or believing he can swim. So what happens when all of a sudden when the waters too deep? all of his friends can’t help him because they are as small as he is.
Dad takes him into the Deep Pool saying it’s OK I’ve got you, does he believe him NOT ON YOUR LIFE! He’s panicking clinging to his Dad. Dad is trying to peal this kid off his body all the while the kid is screaming trying to get closer to Dads body, anything to have control and be safe!
It’s only when finally exhausted sobbing the little bloke stops fighting, that Dad’s soothing words start to get through. I’ve got you, It’s ok just relax my hands will hold you I wont let you go until I know you can do it. There now isn’t this fun, just feel the water round you. Yeh its deep but not for me! Kick your leg a little see you can do it. Oh! Water in the face, brings back panic.
Has it stopped Dad from holding him? NO, is he not still moving round the Big Pool? Someone does a bommy serge of water completely over whelms him, is he still in Dads hands still moving around the pool?
Some time later Dad puts him on the side of the pool. Dad moves away from the edge back into the DEEP WATER. Dad then says jump to me WHAT! Jump to me I will catch you.
How well do I know my Father do I know him so well that I will trust him to catch me? Will I be able to have control NO! Can I reason what will happen? Yep. What if he doesn’t catch me? I will drown no one will be there for me, I can’t swim in the “Big Pool” only the little pool. What if someone bommys me right next to Dad? I might get knock over. What if I run away and play somewhere else, in the shallow pool. Will that still satisfy me as I grow?
Ok back to the Big Pool, Dads still waiting still reassuring. The edge of the pool is too hot to stand on for too long what is my decision. If I jump Dad might catch me? Most of the time he does, but not the way I think he should. I guess go under Yep and come up coughing and spluttering was it nice No but I learnt to hold my breath, Dad still caught me but not
The way I Thought he should.
So what have I learnt? Dad will catch me when I jump. If I stop fighting I can enjoy the ride
Be Blessed
